Ituverava: a praça mais bonita... então eu digo...

Que país é este?

O país de Ituveravas.

A praça central de Ituverava (Praça 10 de março, claro!) foi palco de um conflito sangrento (para os cofres públicos, diz-se), que durou muitos anos: um prefeito a construía e, o prefeito seguinte, a desconstruía para reconstruir diferente. Isso durou muitos anos e transformou a praça num campo de trincheiras.

Pra acabar com a confusão, um desses prefeitos encheu-a de obras (de arte?!?): a réplica de uma caravela portuguesa, a miniatura de uma cachoeira, a réplica de uma piscina olímpica com uma réplica da estátua do nadador Gustavo Borges (que é de lá), medalhões gigantes com os rostos do Ivan Lins (que fez uma música sobre a cidade) e seu parceiro de composições, Victor Martins (que é de lá)... isso sem falar no negócio que envolve a caixa-d'água (taí na foto, nomei-o como preferir)...

As árvores imensas da praça original foram 'removidas' para das lugar a essas obras todas.

Detalhe bizarro: as obras são de autoria do tal prefeito. Sim, é isso mesmo, tão absurdo quanto parece. Mas fica pior: ele  encheu todas as outras praças da cidade com obras de sua autoria. E pior: tanto a igreja matriz quanto a igrejinha da praça perto da rodoviária (a igreja do marco fundador da cidade) também abrigam (apenas) obras do tal fulano.

Aconteceu em Ituverava. Pode acontecer com sua cidade. Com ou sem Santo Daime (ayahuasca).

Há quem ache que tudo isso também faz parte do charme do local.

The country of several Ituverava cities.

Ituverava's central square (10th March Square, of course) was the scene of a bloody conflict (at least to the public purse, it is said) that lasted many years: one mayor built something at the square (as a new path ou a different garden) only to be deconstructed by the next mayor, who built his own things that would be replaced by the next administration. This absurd little war lasted many years and turned the square into a field of trenches.

The last one of those mayors put at the square lots of works of 'art': a portuguese caravel, a fake waterfall, a little Olympic swimming pool (as if it was possible) where he've put a statue of Gustavo Borges (a great swimmer that was born at Ituverava city), giant medallions with the faces of Ivan Lins (a famous composer who made a song about the city) and its partner of compositions, Victor Martins (born in Ituverava)... not to mention the thing that involves the water tank (it is shown at the photo, name it as you wish)...

The huge trees of the original square were 'removed' to be replaced by these 'works of art'.

Detail: all the works mentioned were made by the mayor himself (who thought he was an artist of great skill). Yes, that's right, it is as absurd as it sounds. It happened at Ituverava. It may happen to your city (if you are brazilian, of course!). With or whitout ayahuasca.

Some people think that all this is also part of Ituverava's charm.
I tell then: good or you.
